Escape

The tougher life gets, the more I tend to daydream of escaping. The dictionary tells me the definition of escape is: “to get free from something”.

We press the key on our computer keyboards which allows us to leave our current screen.  We interrupt a process by pressing the “esc” key.

I wish it was this easy in real-life too! If it was, then right about now I would press that “esc” key and happily interrupt the process of my life and find myself inside a charming little cottage, in the middle of nowhere surrounded by breathtaking autumn scenery and pure silence!

There is a good reason why travelling is a great way to escape the stresses of our mundane lives. We get free from our everyday circles and our brains’ well-travelled neural pathways.

Can you imagine it with me, just for a moment? Totally alone, surrounded by nothing but nature and the complete absence of sound, just serene silence.

Why is silence so powerful? Because it allows us to collect our thoughts and it improves our mental clarity.

We surround ourselves with noise of various kinds, sometimes to drown out the thoughts that would otherwise awaken during stillness, but so often our brains, especially our creative minds, as well as our souls, simply long for silence.

The quieter we become, the more we can hear. Silence is a source of great strength! It’s something worth reaching out for.
