This morning I find myself wishing I could somehow share this tranquil place with you — to put into words the quiet splendour of waking in the countryside.
I wish you could hear the gentle melodies of the Australian bush as the day begins — the cheerful laughter of kookaburras drifting through the open air, and the soft fragrance of gardenias mingling with the freshness of morning dew.
Outside our bedroom window the landscape unfolds slowly and peacefully, as if the world itself is still waking.
Moments like this invite quiet reflection.
And I find myself wondering…
Is this how we were meant to live?
Away from the clamour and pollution of the city, held instead in the gentle embrace of nature’s calm.
As I watch Bella the horse grazing peacefully in the field, gumtrees standing tall around her and tiny blue wrens darting about like little sparks of blue, I am struck by the quiet vitality of the natural world.
Nature asks very little of us.
Only that we pause.
That we listen.
That we notice.
For a weary soul, that simple invitation can feel like a gift.
Sometimes I wonder if the birds themselves understand the beauty that surrounds them. Their cheerful songs seem to suggest they might. Their melodies rise and fall with the rhythm of the land, as though they belong completely to this place.
Perhaps in their songs there is a quiet wisdom — a reminder that joy can be found in simply being present.
As the morning sun begins to rise, spreading golden light across the landscape and painting the sky with soft shades of orange and pink, I am reminded how precious these fleeting moments truly are.
They whisper gently to slow down.
To breathe.
To notice.
To be grateful.
Here my weary soul finds a place of rest — a sanctuary where time feels softer and worries dissolve quietly like mist beneath the morning sun.
Sitting here, taking in the sights and sounds around me, I feel a deep sense of gratitude.
Gratitude for the beauty that surrounds me.
Gratitude for the peace that settles quietly within.
And gratitude for the simple gift of being alive in this moment.
And as I sit here, immersed in the quiet beauty of the countryside, I cannot help but wonder if perhaps this truly is how we were meant to live —
In harmony with nature.
In rhythm with the earth.
And in quiet awe of the beauty that surrounds us.
And for a little while, my soul feels completely at home.
Tears rolled down my cheeks because I think this is what we are called upon to notice and sometimes don’t. I have been thinking the challenge for all of us too is to notice the beautiful in what does not appear so. Lovely writing….
