Love at First Sip

Allow me to share a little secret with you. Every morning, I begin my day with a steaming cup of Masala Chai tea, lovingly prepared and brought to my bedside table by my husband, Peter, without fail. Let me introduce you to this small yet cherished pleasure in my life. It’s a slow-cooked Chai tea, infused with an array of spicy, delightful flavors that unfurl as I savour each sip. Thanks to the inclusion of spices like cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and cardamom, it boasts a rich and robust taste. My day simply cannot commence without indulging in one or two cups.

Chai transcends the realm of a mere beverage; it is a thick, sweet elixir that forms the bedrock of my daily routine. To me, Chai embodies a sense of identity and serves as a consistent source of comforting familiarity. The aroma of its spices has a naturally uplifting, invigorating effect, and even the scent of my tea can uplift my spirits. Sipping on Chai is akin to igniting the inner flame of my soul.

Crafted from a medley of spices such as cardamom, clove, pepper, and star anise, it’s safe to say that Chai packs a punch. What does my love for Chai say about me, you might wonder? Perhaps it suggests that I possess a zestful and spirited character. However, I’d also describe myself as someone who values harmony, inner serenity, and meaningful conversations. I relish the comfort of my home and the presence of my family, yet I’m equally intrigued by the prospect of exploring new places and forging connections with new people. It’s safe to say that I’m a bit of an enigma, but one thing is certain: I find great joy in engaging in conversations over a cup (or multiple cups) of Chai tea.

Chai therapy is my daily ritual, a comforting blend of black tea, milk, and spices. The soothing warmth of a cup of Chai holds an almost magical power, instantly melting away my anxieties and stress, leaving behind a serene sense of well-being. It’s a cherished part of my daily routine, akin to a trusted friend that never fails to provide solace.

As I savour each sip, I can’t help but be transported to the enchanting world of Christmas, a season that holds a special place in my heart. The harmonious blend of Chai’s ingredients invokes images of cozy evenings with stockings hung by the fireplace, the harmonious melodies of carolers singing in the cold night air, and the delightful sight of spiced cookies adorning a festive plate.

My love for Christmas extends beyond just the season, for I am an unwavering devotee of Christmas movies. Throughout the year, you’ll often find me indulging in these heartwarming tales. There’s an undeniable allure in the twinkling Christmas trees, the aroma of homemade treats filling the air, and the timeless narratives of love and family reunions that touch the soul.

In many ways, I see myself as a character in my very own Christmas movie, seeking and celebrating the everyday kind of magic that brings joy to life. I am a firm believer in happy endings, not only on the screen but also in the real world.

So, each day, as I embrace my cup of Chai, I am reminded that life itself is a story waiting to be told, filled with moments of enchantment and serenity. With each sip of Chai, I continue to write my own heartwarming narrative, one that brims with the hope of happy endings and the enduring magic of everyday life.

What a heartwarming story. Love that when Peter brings you the chai to the bedside. He a little bit spoils you 😊. (spoil or indulge?)

    1. Thank you Hanna!! Yes he totally spoils me!! It was VERY difficult to find good chai in Finland’s cafés. There was one café in Old Porvoo that made a pretty good Chai, but I didn’t find any anywhere else really. In Melbourne it’s unusual to find a café that does poor chai these days. So that is definitely something I do miss from Australia when I am in Finland. I brought one and a half kilos of Chai leaves with me to Finland. I didn’t have a lot left over, so I pretty much had it all while there. But Peter wasn’t there to make it. Hahaa! I had to make my own!!
